Configuration and Jumper Options

Setting the SCSI ID

Image of Drive showing Jumpers

Use the J6 jumper block to set the SCSI ID (see above). To change the SCSI ID, install jumpers on the appropriate pins as shown in the illustration. Optional connections to switching circuits in host equipment are provided on J1 auxiliary to set the SCSI ID (see below).

Terminating the drive

ST19171WD drives do not have internal terminators or any other way of adding internal termination to the drive. You must provide external differential termination to these drives when termination is required.

Terminator power

There are two possible terminator power configurations for the ST19171WD drive.

Parity check option

The default is parity check of the SCSI bus enabled. To disable this feature, install a jumper across pins 7-8 on J2.

Motor start option

Enable motor start. The drive waits for the Start Unit command from the host before starting the motor. Jumper across pins 11-12 on J2. Disable motor start (default) The drive starts according to the delay motor start option setting as described below.

Delay motor start option (Valid only if the Enable Motor Start jumper is not connected)

Enable motor start delay. Motor start delay is equal to the SCSI ID X 12 seconds. Install a jumper across pins 13-14 on J2. Disable motor start (default). Remove jumper from pins 13-14 on J2.

Write protect option

Write Protect = On (disables writing)
Jumper across pins 9-10 on J2.
Write Protect = Off (default) no jumper.
